The temple of Poseidon in Cape Sounion and the sophisticated Athenian Riviera with sandy beaches and open-air seaside cafés at the city’s southern edge represent two must-do seaside experiences. Overview

Our itinerary takes us on the gorgeous coastal road between Athens and the Temple of Poseidon to enjoy this magical archeological site by the sea. As well leave Downtown Athens, we’ll stop first at the Stavros Niarchos Cultural Center to admire this cutting-edge architectural gem and one of the “greenest” buildings in the region, home to both the city’s opera house and a new national library set amidst eco-friendly herb gardens with olive trees. Just a hop away we’ll be visiting some of the places where the 2004 Olympic Games took place and stop by some sandy beaches for some summer ambiance.

Next on the itinerary is Lake Vouliagmeni, known for its healing thermal waters and is a hidden treasure that most visitors aren’t aware of.

About an hour and a half after the tour begins, we arrive at the majestic Cape Sounion, at the very tip of Attica, the peninsula that is home to Athens. Many people can feel the spiritual aura of the place which is said to be mysically connected to the temple of Aphaea on the island of Aegina and to the Acropolis in a symmetrical triangle.

Your chauffeur will have your tickets ready so you can bypass the queues and take in the magnificent views that this strategically placed temple affords. Take an hour off to explore in the footsteps of ancient worshippers and mystics around the Temple of Poseidon as you admire the marble site’s 2.500-year history against the Aegean Sea as a backdrop. As you return back to Athens, stop for a lunch or dinner break in a traditional seaside restaurant and try some seafood delicacies, highly recommended with a quality Greek wine or ouzo (or both for the more adventurous!). We’ll then bring you back to wherever you want to go in Athens.
