Studios Kalliopi
These rooms are clean, well-maintained and simple, offering very good value for money. Rates range from 20 Euros per room in the low season to about 40 or 50 Euros in the high season, i.e. July and August.
The best feature of the rooms is their spacious size. Most of the rooms easily fit three persons, and some even fit four (i.e. with one large double bed and two single beds). There's also an air conditioning unit, small television and kitchenette area to prepare light meals. Another advantage is the location in the center of town, a two-minute walk from a number of restaurants, bars, shops and small supermarket. Despite Kalliopi's proximity to the port, Alekkos will be more than happy to pick you up once your boat docks and drive you down again, at no extra charge.
In the morning, once you open your windows, you will most likely be greeted by the delightful chirping of birds and a fresh breeze, depending on the time of year (May, June, September and October are really good months to visit). When Ecotourism-Greece went to stay at Kalliope during the off-season period, Grandma and her granddaughter ran to ensure that the rooms were in good shape. A touching gesture with an important touch of family.
At the time of writing Mr. Vellis was planning on installing free Wi-Fi across the property, but if this is still not available, the excellent restaurant and coffee shop (Fanari) nearby has free Internet with your coffee or meal. There are many other cafés and eateries with internet around as well.
This property isn't about luxury, it's about enjoying the fruits of a hard-working local family who do their best to create a nice environment for you to enjoy. Nonetheless, the place was spotless, while the whitewashed walls and wooden ceilings matched perfectly with the island ambiance and local décor, and everything in the room looks new. If you're on a budget yet still want something clean, comfortable and central, this is it!
