Saveriako, paradise for relaxed free spirits

What an amazing secret retreat among the olive groves of Crete’s Heraklion province. Very eco but with a touch of design and luxury, this place will win you over with its upcycled décor, Zen feeling and hospitality of its owners who know their way around the kitchen and would be happy to teach you.

This is a true eco-friendly place that offers activities in nature, cooking lessons, and plenty of time to feel how real life can be away from the city. That said, the happening city of Heraklion is a short drive away and the beach is only five minutes away by car, so never a dull moment! On the sustainability front these apartments have been designated by Booking.com as the highest level, i.e. level three, which along with their excellent ratings from guests shows that the owners are serious about being green. The comfy accommodation among garden and beach views is enough to make you fall in love with this little place.

Pella

Pella is a region that combines a rich history, breathtaking nature and a variety of activities to suit all seasons and tastes.

It was the capital of the ancient Macedonian dynasty, when Philip II and his son Alexander the Great ruled a vast empire. Explore the archaeological site of Pella and admire the well-organised city plan, the impressive mosaics and the museum displaying artefacts from this glorious era. Visit the nearby town of Vergina, home to the royal tombs of the Macedonian kings.

Pella is also a natural getaway, with mountains, lakes, rivers and springs offering endless opportunities for eco-tourism and adventure. Hike or cycle on Mount Paiko, a green oasis with forests, waterfalls and wildlife, or relax on a boat trip or birdwatch on Lake Vegoritida, a picturesque lake surrounded by verdant hills and traditional villages. If you go during the colder seasons, you can ski or snowboard on Kaimaktsalan, Greece's third highest mountain, with breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea and Mount Olympus. For calmer pursuits, relax and recharge your batteries at Pozar, the thermal springs that have healing properties and form natural pools and waterfalls.

Pella is also a region rich in culture and gastronomy. You can visit Edessa, the town of waterfalls, and stroll through its picturesque old town. Visit or stay in old Agios Athanasios, a traditional hamlet with stone houses and welcoming guesthouses. Immerse yourself in the local gastronomy and sample local specialities such as savory pies, cheeses, honey, wine and tsipouro, a strong alcohol made from grapes.

Pella is a place where you can experience history, nature, culture, and fun all in one destination.
