AVATON
Folegandros is one of the more unknown, well-preserved Cyclades islands that has escaped the eye of mass tourism. That’s why we’re happy to know that the Avaton has chosen to become a Level 3 Travel Sustainable Property as listed in booking.com, yet still espousing an air of understated luxury that more “prestigious” Cyclades islands are boasting about.
A very local Cycladic breakfast and a swimming pool fed by the municipality’s desalinated water (i.e. no getting bunkers of water from Athens) are two green practices worth mentioning. The beige-colored low-rise property blends inconspicuously into its natural surroundings, while indoors the sleek furnishings and design imbue an unbeatable feeling of being on vacation in an exotic locale. This is definitely a noteworthy green choice if you’re planning to visit Folegandros.
