Here’s a great circular tour that will take you through 15 kilometers of beautiful Peloponnesian wilderness. Begin the hike with your guide from the main square of Vitina with all its traditional stone-built architecture from a bygone era. You’ll be climbing in total some 950 meters on a hike that will exhilarate you. Pass by the remote little church of Sotiras, then hike up through the fir-tree forest to Alogovrisi (meaning Horse Spring as horses and riders used to rest there). This is the ideal spot to take a break and have a snack before walking below the summit of Pateritsa and on to the cave of Drakotrypa – where the god Pan and his nymphs used to visit according to Greek mythology – before heading back to Vytina.
