If you watch a documentary about the Lost Atlantis, you will always watch scenes from the Santorini, famed for its beauty. Some say the island was part of the last Atlantis, and that before 1627 B.C. there was a huge volcanic eruption that destroyed this mythical place. With this tour you’ll get a chance to discover the beauty and (geological) history of the island on scenic hikes along its caldera edge and on its many unknown paths. Tobias and Tom will introduce the secrets of this volcano and explain its workings. Santorini was the home of the Minoan culture, and even today we can find traces of the people living there up until the geological disaster. The volcano also created fertile soil that boasts rare plants and produces the famous Santorini vines. There are some traditional villages like Emporio or Akrotiri, that are not yet spoiled by mass tourism. Your guides speak Greek which means you can enjoy direct contact with the locals, including a friend who lives on one of the two volcanoes in the middle of the caldera. The hiking tour is a combination of hiking and sailing with a private boat.
