The EU Ecolabel can be seen on many products and services across Europe. Many are surprised to learn that it also certifies hotel properties and campsites as well! The label was one of the very first that appeared on the hospitality certification arena, with focus on limiting energy consumption, water consumption and waste production. The EU Ecolabel also calls for using renewable resources and substances that are less hazardous to the environment, in addition to furthering environmental education. The scheme has been embraced especially in Italy, followed by France and Spain. Greece boasts a handful of certified businesses that we are delighted to highlight on Ecotourism-Greece’s portal.
