In cooperation with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), this Australian-led initiative began in 2007 with a symbolic lights-out gesture once a year to promote sustainable energy practices. Earth Hour has grown so much more since then and has been embraced by many businesses and hotels across Greece. It raises awareness about environmental issues and the alarming loss of biodiversity, among other pressing topics. Every tourism business in Greece that participates in Earth Hour, from the small guesthouse to the large seaside resort, is contributing in one way or another to these efforts. We hope that more and more hotels join the Earth Hour bandwagon and promote the environment through this channel.
