While the Cyclades might be known for their whitewashed and blue-domed landscapes, the Dodecanese group of islands are known for their rich history, culture and nature. The word Dodecanese comes from Dodeka meaning 12 in Greek, although the main islands in this group are 15, followed by dozens of smaller ones.
Rhodes or Rodos is the mother island, followed by Kos and Patmos in term of importance. Leros, Nisyros, Simi, Tilos and Kasteollorizo all have their own beauty and stories to tell too. Which one to choose? A tour of several of these islands is highly recommended!
