Skoteini Thourrounion Cave

One of the most intriguing caves throughout Evia is the cave of Skoteini outside of the village of Thourrounia in the middle of central Evia.

Featuring a vast array of stalagtites and stalagmites, the discovery of artefacts dating back to the Neolithic era led to an in-depth expedition into the cave. Until today, experts have uncovered stone tools, decorated pottery, graves and a variety of other items representing the many civilizations that thrived in the area, from the late Helladic, to Mycenaean up until the Roman Empire.
