One of the largest and most important churches in the area is this monastery built in 1714 in the village of Achladea. It’s dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and hosts a number of events both religious and secular. Large murals painted by some of the best artists from the area of Kastanochoria decorate the interior. Outside, the bell tower and dome complete the church’s aesthetics.
