The monastery of the Birth of the Virgin Mary can be found on the plateau of Zourvas, located along the island’s eastern side. Reaching it requires taking a water taxi from Hydra’s port until reaching the small harbor of Limanaki (Lediza) which lies below the monastery. From there it’s a difficult hike, requiring 40-45 minutes and good stamina before reaching the entrance. The stunning landscape and views, however, are a fitting reward for visitors’ efforts.
