As many churches in Greece named after the prophet Elijah, this monastery is built on the highest point of the region of Zitsa in the northwest part of the prefecture. Aside from the fantastic views, this monastery is also famous for the fact that the famous Philhellene, Lord Byron, stayed here and even wrote a poem about the beauty of the area and the church itself.
