The village of Vlassi (Athamanon Community), 27 kilometers from Mouzaki, is home to the Monastery of the Birth of the Virgin built between1600 and 1620. Note the vaulted ceiling chapel with a large portico on the west. The original carved wood altar remains intact and its earlier murals date from 1644.
