Ioannina’s small island sits peacefully across the water and adds to the unique and picturesque charm of the city. The island’s small village is a living monument, full of traditionally-built houses, churches, monasteries and museums. The most famous monastery is that of Agios Panteleimonas, where the Ottoman ruler Ali Pasha was decapitated. Today it houses the museum of Ali Pasha.
