Along the north coast of the island, the sea has eroded long narrow channels between deeply sculpted white rocks, giving way to the beaches of Karpos, Sarakiniko and the dramatic sea caves of Papafragas. This idyllic landscape with its narrow strip of beach features a tight fjord almost like a swimming pool amid high rocks. The caves are best seen during days when the sea is calm and there are no winds.
