Wine tours in Central Greece


In the municipality of Opountia, Atalanti Valley, lies Domaine Hatzimichalis where cool breezes flow down from Mount Parnassos to create a unique ecosystem for vines to grow. This wine grower aims to further the social and cultural values of the local vicinity.(All year round)

On the border between Attica and Viotia, father and son of the Papakonstantinou family have been producing, preserving and bottling wine of different grape varieties such as Savatiano and Roditis (White), Cabarnet Sauvignon, Grenache Rouge, Merlot and Syrah (Red). Rose and resin wines (Retsina) are also produced.

Deeper in Viotia the vineyards and wines of Askri (or Askre) are also considered superb. There is a wine factory in Askri that you can visit and vineyards as well. The Samartzis Bros Co. produces wine made of Chardonnay, Cabarnet Sauvignon, Roditis Moschofilero and many other varieties.

This region has an ideal microclimate and conditions for vine cultivation, leading to exceptional wines such as those found at the Thestia winery. It produces wine grom Malagouzia graps (an ancient local variety from Aitoloakarnania), as well as Sauvingnon Blanc, Syrah and Merlot/Cabernet Franc. You can taste and buy wines, as well as tour the winery.
