Messinia Rock Climbing

 

Lagada (or Langada) in the southern tip of Messinia is ideal for rock climbing, especially between May and October. The area is at an altitude of 800 meters, allowing for some fresh weather even in hot months. A single rope of 60 meters and 15 quick-draws is probably all you need (plus personal gear). There all two bolts at all belay points, one with a ring for easier abseiling. The rock-climbing routes ascend overhanging formations or slabs, except for one which is more of a corner. Most routes are also bolted with 10 millimetre stainless steel bolts while a couple have 12 millimetre bolts. Information can be found at:
