Kythnos Hiking

Kythnos is strongly developing hiking, including via a new guidebook published by Terrain Editions (www.terrainmaps.gr). The 11 trails in the book visit ancient excavations, a ruined Byzantine castle, hot springs, sandy beaches, wild countryside, and the traditional villages of Hora and Dryopida. The wild landscape will enthrall you, and you’ll come across a myriad of attractions including ancient ruins, historic monasteries, picturesque bays, caves with stalactites and stalagmites, thermal waters and enchanting settlements.

Discover unspoilt Kythnos on foot. Nigel Tutt, his local guide Katerina Filippa, and the rest of the team will warmly welcome you to Kythnos, an island just two hours by ferry from Lavrio port, near Athens. Over six days and five nights, they can take you on a hike across the wild island countryside to hot springs, Byzantine castle ruins, an archeological site, churches, farmland, traditional villages, and many sandy beaches. In the evening they'll be happy to introduce you to the local culture, food and music.
